Brain Bins

Jeanette Dalrymple, Kindergarten Teacher at Amelia Earhart Elementary, has taught Kindergarten for 25 years. This year she saw a need in her classroom and was excited to fill it. Three days a week her students come in and can’t wait to open their morning Brain Bins!

Mrs. Dalrymple said, “If you want to experience children immersed in learning, look no farther than the brain bins that I am beginning to use in my kindergarten classroom. Children learn best through play because it allows them to apply everything they know and encourages them to ask questions and seek out new information and discovery. It is likened to the inquiry-based approach of a scientist because both engage in “what if” thinking. The child is continually trying new possibilities and learns as much from failure and mistakes as from positive outcomes.”

She continued to explain how the bins inspire creativity and challenge the students to work together. Thank you, Mrs. Dalrymple, for being committed to some of our youngest learners! Thank you to all the Goddard Education Foundation donors that have given over the years, you are truly making a difference!
