Andrea said, “‘The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens’ by Sean Covey is a truly unique and powerful informational text book study for 8th grade students. Covey’s book was first published in 1998, but has been revised to meet the changing needs of the new generation of teenagers. To sum, it is a “self-Help” book for teenagers. The tone is very informal and relatable to how teenagers speak with their friends. There are also many stories about the author’s own experiences. The nonfiction book also has several pictures and graphics that are appealing to teenagers. The goal of the book is to inspire teenagers, encourage character traits, goal setting, growth mindset, and get teenagers ready for the real world. I believe that teaching this book during the last month of 8th grade is the perfect time before teens enter high school.”
